An interesting video of the msi wind has appeared on utube;
There are pictures of the MSI wind.

Looking at the MSI Wind it seems that the biggest advantage of this model has got to be the keyboard, other UMPC laptops were plagued by typos this one looks to be much easier on the hand and perfect for actually getting down to some real work. Also note the blue LED buttons, and the gorgeous 10inch screen.
To get some real work done, this seems to be the perfect partner.

laptop mag Msi Wind specs.
Woodsy has an interesting Idea for getting a better deal with linux on the Msi Wind. £30 more but well worth it (hardware wise);
In the UK, the Linux version currently has a price of £320 and XP version £350 (expansys)
So basically, for £30 more you get :
* 512MB more memory for 1GB total
* Bluetooth
* Larger 6-cell battery rated for 5.5 hours
Seems worth the extra dosh to me considering the price of batteries alone.
Personally, I think the XP version is the one to go for and then either install Linux over Windows or dual boot.
Of course this is all speculative and subject to change…
Engadget is Reporting;
We already knew most of the details on the MSI Wind, but the Atom-based ultraportable just got official US pricing and availability today — and just like we hoped, it got a little cheaper on the trip over. Although there’ll be both 8.9-inch and 10-inch versions worldwide, we’re only getting the 10-inch in both XP and Linux flavors, starting June 3rd. The SuSE version will feature that 1.6GHz Atom, 512MB of RAM, 80GB hard drive, and a 3-cell battery rated at 2.5 hours of use for $399, while the XP edition will come in at $549 with 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth, and a larger 6-cell battery good for 5.5 hours. There’s also apparently going to be a $500 “base” XP edition, but details on that are pretty sparse at the moment. Looks like ASUS had better get that Atom-based Eee 900 out by June as planned if it wants to keep up, eh?
The rumored 7 hour battery life is something I’m looking forward to and if they bring out high capacity batteries like the ones for the eee pc. This thing might just run for most of the day!
idiort on the Forums Reports that the MSI Wind coming very soon to Singapore end of may start of june. It should be in the uk halfway through June.
for singapore,the distributer said it will be coming either end of may or early june
it will be the 10 inch version,3 cell batt with xp home… for those preorder,it would be s$799.. but for retail prices,it should be $829
cant wait to get my very own wind baby..

UMPC Portal Reports;
Expansys have put their pricing up for the 10″, XP and Linux versions of the MSI Wind.
The XP Home version based on the 1.6Gz Diamondville (assumed) Atom processor, 10″ LED-Backlit, 80GB (2.5″) hard drive, 1GB of RAM, Wifi, Bluetooth and a 1.3MP WebCam is available for pre-order for 350 pounds. The Linux version is 30 pounds less. By Expansys pricing, this puts it at only 70 pounds (about 25%) more expensive than the 4GB Eee PC. The XP version of the wind is even the same price as the Linux version of the HP 2133!
Looking across Expansys Europe, the German price (for the UK, XP Version) is 459 Euro’s which makes the Packard Bell Easynote look expensive at 499.
Update: US price (UK version export through expansys-usa) is $610.
At these prices, I think the MSI Wind might take the cheap mininote crown, especially with the girls! Interested parties can make their way over to Expansys. (Affiliate link.)
